Building Confidence: Residential Services
Support Services
Under the supervision of a registered Clinical Psychologist and Behaviour Therapist each participant's rehabilitation plan is individualized and outcome based.
These plans include:
- intensive neuro-rehabilitation supports
- behaviour management
- support with monitoring medication
- Psychological support, including individual and family counseling
- Psychosocial Groups
Rehabilitation plans also include Cognitive Skills training and crises intervention.
Building and maintaining skills in Activities of Daily Living and Household Management Tasks, are fundamental parts of the residential program.
Participants are also provided with many leisure and recreational activities. Vocational Services are available to provide participants with comprehensive and practical assistance in obtaining and maintaining volunteer or employment placements on a short or long-term basis.
Academic support is also provided.
Dale Brain Injury Services provides short and long-term 24/7 services in a structured environment to persons with an acquired brain injury who need support to have an enhanced quality of life.
Long-Term Residential Services
The objectives of long- term residential services are to work with each program participant to:
- Provide a safe, secure environment
- Increase their functional abilities
- Increase their independence
- Increase their ability to participate in lifestyle activities of their choice
- Decrease support costs
Residential support services are individualized, with 1:1 staffing or in small groups up to 3:1 depending upon the participant’s needs or challenges. Staffing patterns can change over time, as the individual’s functional independence progresses.
Residential participants also take advantage of our Day Program which provides individual and group activities in the Social, Recreational, Educational and Leisure areas. Regular community outings are also included within the Residential program.
Short-Term Residential Services
DBIS provides short term, 24/7 services in a structured environment to assist persons with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) gain greater independence.
The objectives of short term residential services are to work with each program participant to:
- Increase their functional abilities
- Increase their independence
- Increase their ability to participate in lifestyle activities of their choice
- Achieve success in their efforts to reintegrate effectively into their home community
Short term residential services may also be utilized to provide respite for caregivers, or to help individuals maintain, or recover gains made during rehabilitation programs.
